India Vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Clashes: A Look At Match Winners

The clash between India and Pakistan is always a spectacle, especially in cricket. These two neighbours and arch-rivals always garner the biggest turnout in the ground, and the match is always the flagship clash in any ICC tournament.

India and Pakistan are set to reignite their rivalry in the T20 World Cup as they meet on Sunday (June 9) in New York in a group stage match of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup.

Over the years, India's clashes with Pakistan have been mostly limited to ICC and ACC tournaments. Although we have witnessed the two teams locking horns in bilateral tournaments earlier in this century, the two teams haven't played one bilateral series since 2012.

When it comes to T20 World Cups, the two rivals have played each other seven times. India have won on six of those occasions, whereas the solitary victory for Pakistan came back in 2021.

The match ended as a tie and then India won the Bowl Out.

Match 3: IND vs PAK (Group Stage, 2012)

India bowled out Pakistan for 128 and then chased it with ease to win the match by 8 wickets.

POTM: Virat Kohli (IND) - Virat Kohli bowled and got a wicket and then scored an unbeaten 78 runs off just 61 balls to win the POTM award. Kohli's inning had 8 fours and 2 sixes in it.

India continued their winning streak over Pakistan in the T20 format and beat them by 7 wickets in Mirpur.

POTM: Amit Mishra (IND) - It was a fantastic bowling performance from Amit Mishra which earned him the award. The leg-spinner picked up 2 wickets and conceded just 22 runs in his four overs. The crucial wickets were of Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik, two big names of the Pakistan batting lineup.

Match 5: IND vs PAK (Group Stage, 2016)

India restricted Pakistan to just 118 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Then they chased it down with more than two overs to spare and won the match by 6 wickets.

POTM: Virat Kohli (IND) - Virat Kohli showed his batting might in this match against Pakistan. Chasing just 119 in 18 overs, India were 23 for 3 at one stage, but Kohli steered the ship and played a fantastic unbeaten knock of 55 runs in 37 balls to take the team home.

Match 6: IND vs PAK (Group Stage, 2021)

The only win for Pakistan in the T20 World Cups over India. This was a dominating win for them in Dubai as Babar Azam and his boys beat India by 10 wickets.

POTM: Shaheen Afridi (PAK) - Shaheen Shah Afridi was at his fervent best on the night. He dismantled the Indian batting at the top, dismissing KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma respectively. Afridi's figure was 3 for 31 in four overs as he also dismissed Virat Kohli later.

Match 7: IND vs PAK (Group Stage, 2022)

India scripted an epic win in Melbourne as they beat Pakistan by four wickets.

POTM: Virat Kohli (IND) - Perhaps only a handful of innings can be better than this one from Virat Kohli in Melbourne. Chasing 160, India were reeling at 31 for four, and from there on, it was a Virat Kohli masterpiece.

Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off just 53 balls to take India home in dramatic fashion. He hit six fours and four sixes in his scintillating knock and got the much-deserved accolade.
