India Eyes Victory Against Ireland In T20 World Cup 2024 Opener
Pre-tournament favourites India will open their Group A campaign against Ireland in match 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, USA on Wednesday (June 5).
With an aim to end their ICC trophy drought, Rohit Sharma-led India will look to get off to a solid start, while Paul Stirling's Ireland will aim to cause an early upset in the event.

Ireland stands a slim chance of progressing to the Super 8s, but Team India is the firm favourite to win the group that also includes arch-rivals Pakistan, tournament co-hosts USA as well as Canada.
Rohit's men come into the match on the back of a 60-run win over Bangladesh in their solitary warm-up match, while Ireland suffered a 41-run loss to Sri Lanka in their only practice match ahead of the event.
This will be the second meeting between India and Ireland in the T20 World Cup. The two teams have met in bilateral series, including one last year. However, this will be their first meeting at the New York venue. Here is a look at the head-to-head numbers of IND vs IRE:
