T20 World Cup 2024: India Prepares For Bangladesh Spin In Crucial Match

India's batting coach Vikram Rathour expressed caution regarding Bangladesh's bowling attack, noting that the pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium might benefit spinners ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match in North Sound, Antigua & Barbuda.

India enters the match following a 47-run victory over Afghanistan in their previous Super Eight encounter in Bridgetown, Barbados. Conversely, Bangladesh faced a 28-run defeat to Australia in their Super Eight opener at the same venue in North Sound.

India Readies for Spin Test vs Bangladesh

Rathour acknowledged that Bangladesh players excel under specific conditions and recognised that the North Sound pitch would favour their spinners. He also emphasised that every team poses a challenge in the T20 format.

"They're a good unit. They have a lot of guys who can spin bowling and they are good in certain conditions," Rathour said at the pre-match press conference on Friday (June 21).

"And these conditions do suit them a little as a team I think because the wickets seem to have a bit of some help for the spinners and they do have spinners in their team. But again, in this format, I think every team is a tough team."

While acknowledging that conditions could favour spin, Rathour expressed relief at not having to play on the challenging surfaces encountered in New York, where India played three of their group matches.

"I think we already played in the worst conditions that were possible in New York so anything after that is feeling good only. Even today felt really good. So, I am expecting wickets to be better," Rathour added.

"I mean, it won't be as challenging as what we had in New York. And again, we are equipped, I think, as a team, as a batting unit, to deal with any conditions that are put in front of us."
