India's World Cup Return Delayed By Hurricane Beryl In Barbados
India clinched a remarkable T20 World Cup win by defeating South Africa in the final on Saturday, June 29.
The Indian cricket team's return home might be postponed due to Hurricane Beryl, which is anticipated to hit Barbados by Monday morning. Currently in Barbados, the team is expected to remain there until Monday. Beryl, classified as a Category 3 storm, poses significant threats to the island nation.

Beryl is the first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season and has strengthened into a "very dangerous" Category 3 storm as it nears Barbados. The National Hurricane Center forecasts that Beryl will escalate into an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 hurricane upon reaching the Windward Islands by late Sunday or early Monday. This early arrival of the season's first hurricane is unusual since the average date for the first hurricane is August 11.
At present, Beryl is over 400 kilometres away from Barbados, with wind speeds approaching 200 kmph. The weather centre indicated that "the centre of Beryl is expected to move across the Windward Islands Monday morning and across the southeastern and central Caribbean Sea late Monday through Wednesday."
India recorded a sublime victory by defeating South Africa by 7 runs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already declared a substantial prize money of Rs 125 crore for the Indian team. Following their World Cup triumph, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20 internationals for India.
Rohit Sharma and his team ended an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy in Barbados. However, their victorious return is likely to be delayed due to the impending storm.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Indian cricket, bringing joy to fans worldwide. The delay in their return due to Hurricane Beryl adds an unexpected twist to their celebratory journey.
