India Vs South Africa 1st T20I: National Anthem Glitch Sparks Fan Outrage And Hardik Pandya Criticism

The cricket series between India and South Africa began with an unexpected incident at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The audio system malfunctioned during the Indian national anthem, causing a disruption.

As the pre-match ceremony commenced, the Indian anthem, Jana Gana Mana, was played first. However, it abruptly stopped midway through. This on-and-off issue occurred twice, frustrating the Indian fans present. Despite this, the Indian players continued singing without music.

After the players finished singing 'Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya He', the audio system was reset and the anthem restarted. The Indian team sang it again completely, much to the delight of their supporters in Durban. The technical glitch was a minor oversight by stadium management.

Despite the error, Indian players found humour in the situation. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh were seen smiling while singing again. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also appeared amused by the incident.

Pandya's reaction to the anthem replay drew criticism on social media. As it played for a second time, he was caught laughing, which led to fans criticising his casual attitude towards such a significant moment.

Fans Demand Apology

The technical glitch did not sit well with Indian fans back home. Many felt disrespected and called for an apology from the South African Cricket Board for their oversight. Some fans praised both players and supporters for continuing to sing despite the audio issues.

In spite of this initial hiccup, India secured a remarkable win in Durban. South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first. India's Sanju Samson shone with an impressive century, scoring 107 runs as India set a target of 202 runs.

South Africa struggled against India's spinners and were bowled out for just 141 runs. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi each claimed three wickets, helping India take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.
