India Vs Zimbabwe: Dominant Win In 5th T20I Secures Series Victory For India
India clinched their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a decisive 42-run win in the final game at Harare Sports Club. This victory secured a 4-1 series triumph for the visitors, setting them up for their next bilateral series in Sri Lanka.
Winning the toss, Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza chose to field first, hoping to exploit early pitch conditions. India managed to post a competitive total of 167/6 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson anchored the innings with a vital half-century. Despite early setbacks, his steady approach and late-order hitting helped India reach a challenging score.

The Indian innings began poorly with early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma. Shubman Gill, leading the side, also fell cheaply, leaving India at 45/3 in the seventh over. However, Samson, along with Riyan Parag and Shivam Dube, stabilized the innings. Samson's fifty featured some exquisite shots, including a towering six down the ground.
Zimbabwe's bowlers had moments of brilliance. Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava managed to contain India's batsmen with disciplined bowling. Faraz Akram also chipped in with key wickets but maintaining consistent pressure proved challenging for the hosts.
Chasing 168 for victory, Zimbabwe's innings started shakily with opener Wessly Madhevere falling in the second over. Mukesh Kumar starred with the ball for India, claiming four wickets and ensuring Zimbabwe never got going in their chase.
Mukesh Kumar's Bowling Masterclass
Despite brief resistance from middle-order batsmen Sikandar Raza and Dion Myers, Zimbabwe kept losing wickets regularly. Myers and Raza attempted to build a partnership that briefly lifted Zimbabwe's hopes. However, India's spinners Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi turned the tide decisively in India's favor.
Sundar's wicket of Tadiwanashe Marumani and Bishnoi's economical spell tightened the screws on Zimbabwe’s chase. The final nails came from Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande who picked up crucial middle-over wickets.
India Seals Victory
Mukesh Kumar returned to clean up the tail, ensuring Zimbabwe were bowled out for 125 in 18.3 overs. This sealed a comprehensive 42-run victory for India.
This win not only highlighted India's dominance but also set an optimistic tone for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
