Kumar Shines As India Secures Series Victory Over Zimbabwe In T20I
India secured a 42-run victory over Zimbabwe in the final match of their T20I series in Harare, thanks to Mukesh Kumar's impressive four-wicket haul. Kumar's figures of 4-22 included two crucial wickets in the 18th over, ensuring India's win. This victory marked India's fourth consecutive win against Zimbabwe, extending their winning streak to seven out of the last eight T20Is between the two teams.
Zimbabwe's chase began poorly with Wesley Madhevere dismissed for a duck on just the third ball. Despite efforts from Dion Myers, who scored 34, and Tadiwanashe Marumani with 27 runs, Zimbabwe struggled to maintain momentum. Faraz Akram's quick 16 runs from three balls in the 17th over provided brief hope, but three rapid wickets saw Zimbabwe all out for 125, confirming their series defeat at 4-1.

India's performance in this series has been dominant, particularly highlighted by their bowling strength. Shivam Dube's run-out of Sikandar Raza was India's 11th run-out dismissal in men's T20Is this year, more than any other full-member team. This efficiency in fielding has been a significant factor in their recent successes.
The match started with Zimbabwe making an early breakthrough as Sikandar Raza bowled Yashasvi Jaiswal out for just 12 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill also fell quickly, leaving India at a precarious 44-3 by the end of the sixth over. However, Sanju Samson steadied the innings with a solid 58 from 45 deliveries.
Blessing Muzarabani was notable for Zimbabwe with his bowling figures of 2-19, restricting India to a total of 167-6 after their allotted 20 overs. Despite these efforts, Zimbabwe could not capitalise on their early successes and faltered during their chase.
The Chevrons' inability to build partnerships was evident as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Their batting lineup failed to find rhythm against India's disciplined bowling attack led by Mukesh Kumar.
India's comprehensive win not only sealed the series but also showcased their depth and resilience as reigning T20 world champions. The team's ability to recover from early setbacks and dominate with both bat and ball underscores their status as a formidable force in international cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated this achievement on social media: "A 42-run victory in the 5th & Final T20I With that win, #TeamIndia complete a 4-1 series win in Zimbabwe."
