U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025: India Begins Title Defence Against West Indies

India, the defending champions, will kick off their ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup campaign against the West Indies. The second edition of this prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2 next year.

India's group includes hosts Malaysia, West Indies, and Sri Lanka. They secured their spot in Group A after defeating England in the inaugural tournament held in South Africa last year.

India's first match is set for January 19 against the West Indies. Following this, they will face Malaysia on January 21 and then play against Sri Lanka on January 23. All these matches will be held at Bayuemas Oval.

The competition format involves each team playing three games in a round-robin phase within their group. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage.

In the Super Six stage, teams carry forward points, wins, and Net Run Rates (NRRs) from matches against other qualifying teams. Each team will play two additional matches against teams from corresponding groups that finished in different positions.

The bottom-ranked teams from Groups A and D, as well as B and C, will compete in a last-place play-off on January 24. The Super Six stage divides the 12 advancing teams into two groups: Group 1 includes top teams from Groups A and D, while Group 2 comprises top teams from Groups B and C.

Semi-Finals and Final

The top two sides from each Super Six group will qualify for the semifinals scheduled for January 31. The final match is set for February 2 at Bayuemas Oval. Reserve days are allocated for both stages: February 1 for semifinals and February 3 for the final.
