India's Cricket Team Seeks To Host Champions Trophy 2025 Matches In Dubai Amid Security Concerns

The Indian cricket team is unlikely to visit Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hold India's matches in Dubai instead.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the BCCI has communicated security concerns to the PCB, explaining their decision not to travel. They have expressed a preference for playing all their games in Dubai. "This has been our stance and there is no reason to change that. We have written to them and asked them to shift our games to Dubai," a source told The Indian Express.

India Requests Dubai Venue for Champions Trophy

The PCB had initially planned for India's matches to be held at Lahore's Gadaffi Stadium, as per a provisional schedule released earlier this year. However, India had not confirmed their participation in Pakistan for the tournament.

The BCCI has consistently maintained that they require government approval before travelling to Pakistan, casting doubt on whether the entire tournament can be hosted there.

On November 7, reports indicated that the PCB is open to modifying the 2025 Champions Trophy schedule. This change would allow India to play its matches in the UAE instead of Pakistan.

A source from PTI mentioned, "The PCB feels that even if Indian government does not clear the tour to Pakistan slight adjustments can be made to the schedule, as in all probability India would play its matches in Dubai or Sharjah."

ICC Involvement and Revised Schedule

The PCB has already shared a tentative schedule with the International Cricket Council (ICC) months ago. They aim for this schedule to be announced by November 11. A source stated, "It has told the ICC that since a back-up plan is already in place with a revised budget there is no sense in delaying releasing a tentative schedule of matches."

This situation highlights ongoing challenges between India and Pakistan regarding cricket tournaments due to security concerns and political tensions. Both boards are working towards finding a feasible solution for hosting India's matches outside of Pakistan.
