Next-Gen Indian Cricketers Motivated By Recent T20 World Cup Triumph

India's recent T20 World Cup victory has deeply inspired the next generation of cricketers, including Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag. They have expressed their admiration for the triumph and pledged to bring more accolades to the nation in the future.

The Indian team is currently in Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series starting on July 6 at Harare Sports Club. Leading the squad is Shubman Gill, who was a travelling reserve during the T20 World Cup held in the USA. He described the win as a "feather in the cap."

Young Cricketers Eye Future Glory

Abhishek Sharma, who had an impressive season with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, watched the final with Yuvraj Singh. "I was watching the match (T20 WC final) with Yuvi paji (Yuvraj Singh). He got very emotional when India won the final. Watching that, I felt very good and got very inspired," Sharma said.

Riyan Parag, set to debut against Zimbabwe, called the victory an inspiration for young players. "It's an inspiration for all of us, the young players here in this squad to win a World Cup, to win something this big in stature," Parag stated.

Wicketkeeper Dhurv Jurel used reverse psychology while watching the final. He didn't want to jinx India's chances and kept saying South Africa would win. "I was thinking that if I say India will win, then SA might win. So, I was saying SA will win, and eventually India won," Jurel chuckled.

Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed joy over seeing Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja retire from T20Is with a title win. "To have a win of this kind...is a special moment. Obviously, a great end to the T20I career of three legends (Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja)," he said.

Pace bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Tushar Deshpande termed the victory as miraculous. Deshpande noted, "As we say, the game is not over till it's over. The final was the best example for it." Mukesh added that it felt surreal watching them win.

Avesh Khan celebrated with local fans near his native place Rajwada. "There is a place near my native – Rajwada – where people gather in a public space to watch big matches...I celebrated with everyone," he shared.

Personal Celebrations and Future Aspirations

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi enjoyed his solitude by screaming inside his hotel room after India's victory. "It was a great feeling that day...I was alone in the hotel and I was screaming all along inside the room," Bishnoi said.

All-rounder Washington Sundar highlighted how emotionally significant this win was for everyone involved. "It's a huge thing for all of us...It's a huge inspiration and huge congratulations to every one of them," Sundar remarked.

The team's victory has not only brought immense pride but also set high standards for future performances. Avesh Khan mentioned how proud he felt seeing videos and photos on social media after their trophy win.
