India's Cricket Team To Embark On Zimbabwe Tour With New Head Coach
The Indian men's cricket team is gearing up for a 5-match T20I series in Zimbabwe, scheduled to commence just under a week after the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The series will take place from July 6 to 14 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, following the World Cup final on June 29.
Given the tight schedule, should India reach the World Cup final, a second-string team is expected to be selected for the Zimbabwe tour. This decision aims to manage player workload and ensure optimal performance during both events.

Additionally, changes in the coaching staff are anticipated. Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach is set to conclude after the T20 World Cup. Former opener Gautam Gambhir is slated to take over but may not be officially announced before the team departs for Harare.
Dravid has confirmed he will not re-apply for his position, leaving Gambhir as the likely successor. However, his appointment may not be finalized before the team's departure. Consequently, a familiar face is expected to lead the coaching staff temporarily.
According to a PTI report, National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman will accompany the Indian squad for the Zimbabwe series. Laxman and his NCA support staff have previously filled in during Dravid's breaks from national duties.
The BCCI is anticipated to announce India's squad for the T20Is later this week. A BCCI source told PTI, "There is a possibility that Laxman along with some of the NCA coaches will travel with the new look squad to Zimbabwe."
This arrangement ensures continuity and stability within the team, leveraging Laxman's experience and familiarity with the players. The upcoming series presents an opportunity for emerging talents to showcase their skills on an international platform.
