Team India's Stars Kohli, Sharma, Bumrah: Return Date Revealed

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados. Team India clinched the title by defeating the Proteas by 7 runs in a thrilling match, securing their second T20 World Cup trophy.

The Indian team will play three T20Is and three ODIs during their tour of Sri Lanka. The T20I series will take place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, while the ODI series will be held at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, Kohli, Rohit, and Bumrah will not participate in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

According to a recent PTI report, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah requested an extended break from the BCCI due to a hectic schedule over the past three months since the start of IPL. Consequently, they will miss the Sri Lanka ODIs scheduled for August 2, 4, and 7.

The trio is expected to return for India's home series against Bangladesh. This series includes two Tests and three T20Is. They will be back on the field for the two Tests against Bangladesh as part of the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.

Gautam Gambhir will debut as India's head coach during the Sri Lanka tour. Afterward, he will collaborate with Kohli, Rohit, and Bumrah for the home series against Bangladesh. The first Test begins on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, followed by the second Test starting on September 27 at Green Park in Kanpur.

This break allows these key players to rest and recover before resuming their roles in upcoming matches. Their return is highly anticipated by fans who look forward to seeing them back in action soon.
