India Triumphs In T20I Series Over Sri Lanka Following Hosts' Late Collapse

India clinched the T20I series against Sri Lanka with one match remaining, following another late collapse by the hosts on Sunday. In a rain-affected game, India excelled with the ball and quickly chased down their target using the DLS method, winning by seven wickets with nine balls to spare.

Sri Lanka's openers had performed well on Saturday, but they struggled in the second game. Kusal Mendis was caught for 10 runs, and Pathum Nissanka was dismissed after scoring just 32. Despite Kusal Perera's solid knock of 58, India's bowlers increased the pressure. Hardik Pandya took crucial wickets, including Perera and Kamindu Mendis (26), initiating Sri Lanka's collapse.

Ravi Bishnoi also played a key role, finishing with figures of 3-26. He dismissed Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga for ducks, contributing to Sri Lanka's final score of 161-9. This strong bowling performance set up India's chase effectively.

India faced only three balls at the start of their innings before rain interrupted play again. As a result, they were set a revised target of 78 runs in eight overs according to the DLS method. Yashasvi Jaiswal made a significant contribution by scoring 30 runs, bringing India close to their target.

Hardik Pandya then guided India to victory with consecutive fours, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The win highlighted India's ability to perform under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions.

Sri Lanka's Struggles Continue

Sri Lanka's disappointing run in T20 cricket persisted after their underwhelming T20 World Cup campaign. Their openers have shown promise but have faltered in recent games. In the last two matches, Sri Lanka lost 16 wickets for just 68 runs in the final six overs.

Despite these struggles, credit must be given to India's bowlers for their dominant displays. Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh each have taken four wickets in the series so far, showcasing their skill and consistency.
