India triumphed in the T20 World Cup, defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final. This victory ended an 11-year wait for a global trophy, following their Champions Trophy win in 2013 and their first T20 World Cup title in 2007.

The match saw star batter Virat Kohli anchor the innings with a classy 76 off 59 balls, leading India to a competitive total of 176 for seven. Despite early setbacks with the dismissals of key players, Kohli's partnership with Axar Patel, who contributed a vital 47 runs, steadied the innings. Shivam Dube added crucial late runs, helping India reach a challenging target.

On the bowling front, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the attack, with Hardik Pandya taking the decisive wicket of Heinrich Klaasen, who had threatened with a quickfire 52 off 27 balls. The Indian bowlers' disciplined performance restricted South Africa to 169 for eight, sealing a hard-fought victory.

BCCI President Roger Binny expressed his elation after the closely contested match. Binny attended the final with other officials to support Team India. "This is one of the best matches I have seen in this tournament. They played really well and showed the fighting qualities of the team. They did a fantastic job; they deserve it," he told ANI.

The former India right-arm pacer, who was the leading wicket-taker for India in the 1983 World Cup campaign triumph, expressed his joy after Rohit Sharma and his spirited band of champions secured the trophy in a closely contested match in Bridgetown.

Soon after winning the trophy - India's fourth World Cup title ever - both Virat and Rohit announced their retirement from T20Is. Rohit and Virat finish as the top two leading run-scorers in T20Is respectively.

Binny's praise highlighted the team's resilience and commitment, acknowledging their hard work and determination throughout the tournament.
