Ganguly Confident In India's Victory At T20 World Cup Final Against South Africa

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is confident that India will triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final against South Africa on Saturday, June 29.

India's journey to the final has been remarkable, with an unbeaten run so far. They will face South Africa in Barbados for the championship clash. However, they must avoid complacency, remembering their heartbreak in the World Cup 2023 after a 10-match winning streak.

Ganguly believes that a bit of luck might be necessary for India to secure victory in the grand finale. "Tomorrow also they go to the final unbeaten. They have been the best side of the competition. Hope they have a little bit of luck tomorrow because that is required to win big tournaments," Ganguly said at an event in Kolkata on Friday.

Sourav Ganguly praised India's captain Rohit Sharma for his leadership throughout this World Cup. Despite facing some criticism early on, Rohit has led his team brilliantly. Ganguly hopes Rohit won't lose two finals within seven months and backs him to win the trophy.

"I don't think he can lose two World Cup finals in seven months. He will probably jump into the Barbados ocean if he loses two finals under his captaincy in seven months. I wish them luck, I wish they win. He has led from the front, and batted brilliantly, and I hope it continues tomorrow. Hope India finishes on the right side tomorrow. They should play with freedom," he added.

An End to an 11-Year Wait?

If India wins the T20 World Cup in Barbados, it will end their 11-year wait for an ICC title. Since winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, India has lost five ICC finals.
