India Sets New T20I Record As Sanju Samson And Tilak Varma Score Centuries Against South Africa
Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma delivered an exceptional performance, leading India to their second-highest T20I score. This remarkable feat was achieved during the fourth T20I against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on November 15, where India amassed a total of 283 runs.
Sanju Samson's explosive batting display resulted in his third T20I century in just five innings. He remained unbeaten with 109 runs off 56 balls, hitting six fours and nine sixes. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma outdid himself by scoring an unbeaten 120 from only 47 deliveries, including nine fours and ten sixes. This made him the second Indian to achieve consecutive T20I centuries, following Samson.

The partnership between Samson and Varma was instrumental in India's impressive total. They combined for a record-breaking 210-run partnership, marking India's highest T20I score outside of home soil. Their collaboration is now the sixth-highest partnership in overall T20Is.
India set a unique record with seven international centuries in 2024, surpassing previous records held by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2016 and India itself in 2023, where five centuries were scored each year. Sanju Samson contributed three centuries to this tally, while Tilak Varma added two more.
