Will Rain Affect India Vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup Clash In Antigua?

IND vs BAN: Rain Threatens to Disrupt India-Bangladesh T20 World Cup Clash in Antigua

Rain is expected to impact the India vs Bangladesh Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled for Saturday, June 22, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. This follows recent weather disruptions in the tournament.

Rain Threat at IND vs BAN Match

Two of the last three T20 World Cup matches in Antigua have faced rain interruptions. On Friday, during the Super 8 match between Australia and Bangladesh, the second innings was halted after 11.2 overs. Australia secured a 28-run victory via the DLS method.

England's crucial last group stage match against Namibia also experienced a delayed start due to rain. The game was eventually reduced to a 10-over per-side contest, with England emerging victorious and advancing to the next stage with help from Australia's win over Scotland.

AccuWeather predicts rain showers from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM in Antigua. The sky is expected to clear until another round of thunderstorms from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The India vs Bangladesh match is set to begin at 10:30 AM local time.

From 11:00 AM onwards, it will be 'partly sunny' according to AccuWeather, with no rain expected. However, precipitation levels will drop below 45 percent only after 12:00 PM and remain around 30 percent until 3:00 PM. Thunderstorms are also forecasted from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The temperature in North Sound, Antigua is expected to hover around 31 degrees Celsius with humidity levels between 75-80 percent. Wind speeds at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium are predicted to be close to 19 km/h.

If rain forces the abandonment of the India-Bangladesh match, both teams will share a point each. India will then have three points from two matches, while Bangladesh will have one point from two matches.

For a result to be decided through the DLS method in case of rain interruptions, both sides must play a minimum of five overs each. If this is not possible, the points will be shared.

India's next Super 8 match is against Australia on Monday, June 24. Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in their final Super 8 match on Tuesday, June 25.
