Nitish Kumar Reddy's Heroic Test Debut Against Australia Highlights India's Resilience

In an exciting start to the Test match at Perth's Optus Stadium, both Indian and Australian batters faced challenges on a pitch favouring fast bowlers. The day saw 17 wickets fall as players struggled to score runs against the relentless pace attack from both teams.

Jasprit Bumrah led India to a total of 150, thanks to Rishabh Pant and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy's efforts. Their resistance was crucial in keeping India's innings alive amid the challenging conditions.

Reddy Shines in Test Debut Against Australia

Rishabh Pant showcased his resilience with a gritty 37 off 78 balls. His aggressive play included daring shots that thrilled fans. Pant's partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy added 48 runs for the seventh wicket before Pat Cummins dismissed him.

Nitish Kumar Reddy impressed everyone with his composed 41 off 59 balls in his first Test on Australian soil. He skillfully handled the pace of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins, marking himself as a player to watch on overseas tours.

Reflecting on his performance, Reddy shared advice from head coach Gautam Gambhir: "I was having a chat with Gautam Gambhir sir. He told me, any bouncer just play it over your shoulder. Take it like a bullet for your country. That's the best thing," he said with a smile.

Receiving his Test cap from Virat Kohli was a dream come true for Reddy. "It is a proud moment," said the young cricketer from Vijayawada.

Indian Bowlers Strike Back

Australia's batters struggled against India's disciplined pace attack, ending Day 1 at 67/7, trailing by 83 runs. Bumrah led by example, dismantling Australia's top order and proving his prowess as one of cricket's most lethal bowlers.

Nitish Kumar Reddy praised Bumrah's leadership: "Bumrah has been very good as a captain. He let the ball do the talking, and his over changes were spot on," he noted.

A Crucial Day Ahead for India

Day 2 promises more excitement as India aims to extend their lead and pressure Australia further. With Australia in trouble, India's bowlers have set up a strong position in this low-scoring but competitive Test match.

Nitish Kumar Reddy summed up India's advantage: "We have the advantage right now. Hopefully, we bat well in the second innings and capitalise on it."
