ICC Seeks PCB's Response On Hybrid Model For Champions Trophy After India's Travel Refusal
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider hosting the Champions Trophy using a hybrid model. This request comes after India's decision not to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. The PCB confirmed receiving an email from the ICC regarding India's refusal to participate in Pakistan.
A source mentioned that unless the PCB withdraws from hosting, India's matches might be held in the UAE, with the final in Dubai. The Indian Cricket Board has agreed to this hybrid model only if the final is in Dubai. The PCB has not yet made any public statements about this situation.

The ICC has proposed that if the PCB agrees to a hybrid model, India's matches and the final would take place in Dubai. Under this arrangement, the PCB would still receive full hosting fees and host most of the matches. "The ICC has told the PCB that if it decides to go ahead with hosting on a Hybrid Model, it would get its full hosting fees and a majority of the matches," stated a source.
If Pakistan opts out due to India's stance, there is a possibility that the ICC could move the entire event to South Africa. Initially, a PCB source indicated there had been no discussions about a hybrid model yet, and they planned to seek further clarification from the ICC. An email is expected to be sent to the ICC with advice from their legal department seeking clarity on India's decision.
Currently, the PCB is assessing its options without making any decisions on future actions. They are consulting with their government for guidance if needed. Meanwhile, Pakistani media speculated on possible responses, such as avoiding playing India altogether or pursuing legal action against both ICC and BCCI at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Geneva.
India has not visited Pakistan since 2008 following the Mumbai terror attacks. Since then, both teams have only competed against each other during ICC tournaments.
