Hong Kong Cricket Sixes Set For Exciting Return In 2024 After Six-Year Hiatus
Hong Kong, known as the sporting capital of East Asia, has a rich history with cricket dating back to 1842. The sport has played a significant role in bridging the city's diverse communities and is the highest-ranked team sport in Hong Kong. Both the men's and women's teams are ranked in the top twenty among the 108 members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Between 1992 and 2017, the Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes was a highlight not only in cricket but also in Hong Kong's overall sporting calendar. This global event featured legends like Sachin Tendulkar from India, Brian Lara from West Indies, and Shane Warne from Australia. The unique format of this tournament has become synonymous with Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong International Sixes is set to return after a seven-year break. Organised by Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK) and supported by the Hong Kong Government, the 2024 edition will take place from 1st to 3rd November at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground. The tournament will feature 12 nations competing over three days.

This collaboration underscores a commitment to ensuring the Sixes develops into a major event in the international cricket calendar." said Chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, China Mr Burji Shroff.
The tournament aims to reignite passion and excitement for cricket with its fast-paced format. Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK) is an ICC member, and this event is sanctioned by the ICC.

The legacy of the Hong Kong Sixes dates back to 1992 and includes some of cricket's most renowned names. Legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik, Sanath Jayasuriya, Anil Kumble, Umar Akmal, Glenn Maxwell, Damien Martyn have all participated. Teams from cricketing powerhouses like India, Australia, England, Pakistan, South Africa have contributed to its worldwide fanbase.
The HK6's aims to create a three-day festival of cricket for fans to experience thrilling matches in a carnival-like atmosphere. This tournament symbolises the spirit of cricket through its universal accessibility.
