Haris Rauf Faces Backlash After Confrontation With Fan On USA Street

Haris Rauf memes have taken over the internet after a video of the fast bowler attempting to hit a Pakistan fan, mistaking him for an Indian, went viral. The 30-year-old cricketer was seen trying to assault the fan on a street in the USA, despite efforts from his wife and three other fans to prevent the altercation.

In the video, the fan is heard saying he was merely asking for a picture. Haris Rauf, visibly angry, responds with abusive language and says, "Tera India nahi hai ye (this is not your India)." The fan quickly corrects him, stating he is Pakistani.

Haris Rauf then questions the fan's behaviour despite being from Pakistan. "Pakistan se hai fir bhi ye haalat hai teri? (Look at your behaviour despite being from Pakistan)," he says. Throughout the incident, Haris Rauf's wife attempts to calm him down, even placing her hand over his mouth at one point.

The incident has sparked a wave of memes on X (formerly Twitter), with users mocking Haris Rauf for his actions and comments about India. The cricketer's mention of 'India' provided ample material for social media users to criticise him.

Haris Rauf recently finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. He took seven wickets in four matches, averaging 14.42 with an economy rate of 6.73. His best performance was against India on June 9, where he registered figures of 3/21.

However, Haris Rauf faced criticism for failing to defend 15 runs in the final over against the USA in Pakistan's opening game of the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan lost that match after a thrilling Super Over and subsequently lost to India as well. India and USA advanced to the Super 8 from Group A.
