Hardik Pandya Achieves 5th Fastest Fifty For India In T20 World Cup Clash
India's vice-captain Hardik Pandya has continued his resurgence in the T20 World Cup 2024 following a challenging period in the IPL.
Pandya was at his peak as he scored an impressive fifty against Bangladesh in the Super Eight match on Saturday. Coming in at a crucial juncture, Pandya delivered a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 50 off just 27 balls. His innings included 4 fours and 3 sixes, with 18 runs coming off the final over, propelling India to a total of 196 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

This half-century by Pandya is the fifth fastest by an Indian player in a T20 World Cup. It also marks the quickest fifty by an Indian batting at no. 6 or lower in such a tournament.
The record for the fastest fifty by an Indian in a T20 World Cup is held by Yuvraj Singh, who achieved this feat against England in the 2007 edition. Notably, that match also saw Yuvraj hit six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad.
| Player | Against | Balls Taken | Year |
| Yuvraj Singh | England | 12 | 2007 |
| KL Rahul | Scotland | 18 | 2021 |
| Yuvraj Singh | Australia | 20 | 2007 |
| Suryakumar Yadav | Zimbabwe | 23 | 2022 |
| Hardik Pandya | Bangladesh | 27 | 2024 |
Pandya has demonstrated his prowess throughout this World Cup. The 30-year-old has accumulated 89 runs with a strike rate of 141 and has excelled with the ball, taking 7 wickets so far.
India has already secured victory in their first Super Eight match against Afghanistan. A win over Bangladesh would almost guarantee their spot in the semifinals.
