Hardik Pandya's performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 final has earned praise from Sanjay Manjrekar. Manjrekar highlighted Pandya's ability to perform under pressure, especially after he bowled the decisive final over, leading India to victory against South Africa on June 29 in Barbados.

During the IPL 2024, Hardik faced criticism from fans after taking over as Mumbai Indians captain. The abrupt dismissal of Rohit Sharma did not sit well with supporters, who expressed their displeasure towards both Pandya and the team's management.

Pandya Wins T20 World Cup for India

Despite the backlash, Pandya demonstrated his resilience and skill in crucial moments. In the World Cup match against South Africa, he took key wickets when they needed just 30 runs off 30 balls. His victims included Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and Kagiso Rabada.

Sanjay Manjrekar commended Pandya for his composure and effectiveness in high-pressure situations. "What a turnaround for Hardik Pandya. During the IPL, there were people who were jeering him. I told them to behave because this is a big-stage player. We have seen that umpteen times," Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo.

Manjrekar also recalled Pandya's performance in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final against England. He noted how Pandya gave India hope with a quickfire 60 off 33 balls and maintained his calm while bowling crucial overs.

Pandya's Emotional Reaction

After defending 16 runs in the final over to secure India's win by seven runs, Hardik was visibly emotional. Reflecting on his journey, he addressed the criticism he faced from fans who didn't know him personally. "I believe in grace. A lot was said by people who don't even know me one percent as a person," he remarked.

Pandya urged fans to be more respectful and graceful in their conduct. "It is time for fans and everyone else to learn that (to be graceful). We need to find better ways to conduct yourself," he added.

Pandya's Impressive Stats

Throughout the tournament, Hardik showcased his all-round abilities by picking up 11 wickets and scoring 144 runs at an average of 48 with a strike rate of 151.57.

The combination of his batting prowess and bowling skills has solidified his reputation as a dependable player in critical matches.
