Gujarat Titans And NEPRA Lead In Sustainability With Major Waste Diversion In IPL 2024

In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, the Gujarat Titans have once again demonstrated their commitment to green initiatives during the TATA IPL 2024 season. In collaboration with Nepra Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. (NEPRA), the team has successfully diverted a substantial amount of waste from landfills, marking a notable achievement in their ongoing partnership.

The first five home games at the Narendra Modi Stadium were the focus of these expanded sustainability efforts, resulting in 75,557 kgs of waste being effectively managed. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to reduce the environmental impact of sporting events, showcasing a successful model of waste management in action.

The breakdown of the managed waste includes 6,400 kg of wet waste and 69,157 kg of dry waste. The wet waste was processed into organic fertilizer by Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Ltd., demonstrating a practical approach to converting waste into valuable resources. Meanwhile, the dry waste underwent meticulous segregation at Nepra's material recovery facility, with 24% being diverted from landfills.

Stadium awareness campaigns played a pivotal role in engaging fans and promoting sustainable practices. Through a variety of channels including pre-game announcements and interactive activities, fans were educated on the importance of waste segregation and responsible disposal methods.

Colonel Arvinder Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Gujarat Titans, expressed pride in the team's sustainability initiatives. "We are proud of our sustainability initiatives that have led to significant progress in minimizing our negative environmental impact during the TATA IPL 2024. Our partnership with NEPRA along with the enthusiastic participation of our fans has been instrumental in achieving these results," he stated. This year's efforts build upon the success of diverting 98% of waste from landfills during IPL 2023, reinforcing Gujarat Titans' dedication to contributing to a greener earth through innovative solutions.
