IPL 2024 Sees Green Tree Symbols For Dot Balls In A Move For Environmental Awareness

Kolkata Knight Riders are facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024, marking the start of the playoff week for this edition.

However, fans have noticed a significant change in the broadcast compared to the previous season.

As each dot ball is bowled, a Green Tree symbol appears in the Over timeline grid. Typically, a dot would be shown on the scorecard graphics, but this sudden switch to a Green Tree has left fans curious about its purpose.

The Green Tree symbol represents BCCI's Green Initiative during the IPL Playoffs. This initiative began in the IPL 2023 season when BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced a collaboration with Tata for an environmental cause.

Under this agreement, BCCI will plant 500 saplings for each dot ball bowled during the IPL playoffs and the Final. This approach aims to embrace environmental responsibility and raise awareness among fans about the importance of planting trees.
