Goa's Snehal Kauthankar And Kashyap Bakle Achieve Record Partnership In Ranji Trophy History

In a remarkable display of batting prowess, Snehal Kauthankar and Kashyap Bakle achieved triple centuries in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Their partnership of 606 runs set a new record, leading Goa to a commanding victory over Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 551 runs in their plate group match.

The duo's exceptional performance saw Kauthankar score 314 from 215 balls, while Bakle contributed 300 off 269 balls. This effort propelled Goa to declare at a massive 727 for 2 in just 92 overs, securing a first-innings lead of 643 runs. Arunachal Pradesh was then bowled out for 92 in 22.3 overs, sealing the win for Goa.

Kauthankar and Bakle Set Ranji Trophy Record

Kauthankar and Bakle's partnership surpassed the previous highest stand of 594 runs for the third wicket by Maharashtra's SM Gugale and AR Bawne against Delhi in 2016. This achievement marked only the second time two players scored triple centuries in the same Ranji Trophy innings.

Previously, Tamil Nadu's WV Raman and Arjun Kripal Singh had achieved scores of 313 and 302 against Goa in 1989. The current partnership is second only to Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene's record-breaking stand of 624 runs for Sri Lanka against South Africa in a Test match in 2006.

Goa's first-innings total of 727 is the second-highest ever recorded in the plate division, following Meghalaya's score of 826 for seven against Sikkim in 2018. Across all Ranji Trophy matches, this total ranks as the ninth-highest.

Kauthankar's innings included an impressive tally of 43 boundaries and four sixes, reaching his triple century milestone with just 205 deliveries. His rapid scoring places him third on the list of fastest First-Class triple hundreds, trailing Hyderabad's Tanmay Agarwal and South Africa's Marco Marais.

Fastest Double-Century Feat

The talented Kauthankar also achieved the fourth-fastest double-century in Ranji Trophy history, reaching this landmark in just 146 balls. Meanwhile, Bakle supported with an equally impressive knock featuring 39 fours and two sixes.

This extraordinary performance not only highlights individual brilliance but also sets new benchmarks within domestic cricket. The achievements by Kauthankar and Bakle will be remembered as one of the most significant partnerships in Ranji Trophy history.
