Glenn Maxwell Faces Challenges Ahead Of IPL 2025 Auction Following Disappointing Series Against Haris Rauf
Glenn Maxwell's recent performances have been underwhelming as he prepares for the IPL Mega Auction 2025. The Australian all-rounder was dismissed by Pakistan's Haris Rauf for the third consecutive time during the third ODI at Perth Stadium on Sunday, November 10.
Maxwell, who was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after a lacklustre season, aimed to attract interest from IPL teams. However, Rauf has consistently outperformed him in this series, dismissing him twice for a duck in three matches.

In the series opener at MCG, Maxwell edged a delivery from Rauf to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan and was dismissed for a golden duck. Despite this setback, Pat Cummins ensured Australia successfully chased down the target of 204 runs.
A few days later, Maxwell was bowled by Rauf for 16 runs as Australia managed only 163 runs and eventually lost the match by nine wickets. On November 10, Rauf once again dismissed Maxwell without scoring, caught by Saim Ayub at point.
Rauf has been a significant challenge for Maxwell and other Australian batsmen on this tour, taking his total wickets to ten. Australia found themselves struggling at 112 for six in 26 overs. Conor Connolly also had to leave the field with a suspected broken hand after being hit at Optus Stadium.
The stadium is set to host the India vs Australia first Test in less than two weeks. This injury adds to Australia's concerns ahead of the upcoming matches.
Maxwell's IPL Prospects
Maxwell is expected to be a major draw among overseas players at the IPL Mega Auction 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. Historically, he has fetched high bids in auctions, reaching Rs 14.25 Crore in 2021 when he joined RCB.
RCB retained him for three seasons at Rs 11 Crore but decided not to keep him this year. Instead, they retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal while leaving room for Right to Match (RTM) cards.
Future Opportunities
RCB might consider using an RTM card to reacquire Maxwell; however, his recent form may deter them and other potential bidders. The senior all-rounder hopes to improve his performance in the upcoming three-match T20I series before the auction.
