IPL 2024: Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan's Historic Centuries Lead To Record Opening Stand

In a thrilling display of cricket, Gujarat Titans' openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan etched their names into the Indian Premier League (IPL) records on May 10, during match 59 of the IPL 2024 season against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Both batsmen scored centuries, contributing to a monumental opening stand.

Gill, with a score of 104 off 55 balls, and Sudharsan, scoring 103 off 51 balls, matched the record for the highest opening partnership in IPL history. This achievement placed them on par with the Lucknow Super Giants duo KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock, who set the record in the 2022 season against Kolkata Knight Riders at the DY Patil Sports Academy Ground in Navi Mumbai. Their partnership had led LSG to a narrow victory by just 2 runs. The Titans aimed for a victory with a more comfortable margin.
