Gautam Gambhir Ensures A Supportive Environment For Team India
India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has assured that he will stand by the players in all situations. He emphasised this during his first press conference following his appointment, highlighting his commitment to maintaining a supportive and secure dressing room environment.
Gambhir addressed the importance of trust and freedom in the player-coach relationship. "The important thing is to give players the freedom. That's what I absolutely believe in, and not have a relationship which is of head coach and a player. To me, the best relationship is built on trust. And that is going to be very important. I can promise that they [players] will always have my back. I have always said that a happy dressing room is a winning dressing room, and a happy and secure dressing room is my responsibility alongside the entire support staff," Gambhir stated.

The newly appointed coach also spoke about taking over a team with an impressive track record in ICC tournaments. He acknowledged the team's past successes and expressed his readiness for the challenge ahead.
Gambhir's first assignment as head coach will be against Sri Lanka. The Indian team is set to depart for the Island Country on Monday, July 22, for a series of limited-overs matches. They will compete in three T20Is followed by three ODIs.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain for the T20 series starting on July 27. Rohit Sharma will return for the ODIs along with Virat Kohli, as both have retired from T20 cricket. Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain for both formats.
When asked about maintaining balance within the team, Gambhir reiterated his focus on creating a positive atmosphere. He stressed that ensuring happiness and security in the dressing room would be his priority alongside the support staff.
"I do not complicate too many things and neither do I want to, and be clear that I am taking over a very, very successful team. The T20 World Champions, runners up in WTC and runners up in the 50 over World Cup. Big shoes to fill and looking forward to it," he added.
Gambhir's approach highlights his belief in simplicity and clarity while managing an already successful squad. His emphasis on trust and freedom aims to foster strong relationships within the team.
The upcoming series against Sri Lanka will be crucial as it marks Gambhir's debut as head coach of India’s national cricket team. Fans eagerly await to see how his leadership influences the team's performance.
