'Can I Bring My Girlfriend?' - Inside Gambhir And Narine's KKR Journey To IPL 2024 Glory

Kolkata Knight Riders have clinched their third IPL title after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 Final held in Chennai.

The Knight Riders demonstrated their dominance throughout the tournament and showcased their strength in the final, overpowering the Orange Army by eight wickets.

Securing the title after a decade, KKR's veteran player Sunil Narine was instrumental throughout the competition. Narine amassed 488 runs and took 17 wickets, earning him the Most Valuable Player award of the season.

Narine's batting skills are well-known, but it was KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir who persuaded the West Indies star to bat higher up the order, a decision that paid off handsomely for the team.

Following the victory, both Narine and Gambhir were seen celebrating together. Known for their reserved demeanours, it was a touching moment for fans to witness their joy after KKR's impressive win.

Narine has been with Kolkata Knight Riders since 2012 and has been a consistent performer for the team. Gambhir recently discussed his relationship with Narine and shared some memorable stories.

"Narine and I are similar in character and emotions. I remember when Narine first joined IPL in 2012 in Jaipur; we were heading for practice, and I invited him to lunch. He was so shy that he didn't say a word during lunch. His first question was, 'Can I bring my girlfriend to the IPL?'" Gambhir recounted during an interview with Sportskeeda.

Gambhir also spoke about the bond they have developed over the years, strengthened by their similar personalities.

"He was very quiet that first season, but now we can talk about anything. He is like a brother to me. I don't see him as a friend or teammate; I see him as a brother. If either of us needs anything, we are just one call away. We don't get overly excited or show many emotions; we just do our job and come back," said the KKR mentor.

It has been an excellent season for KKR, and all eyes will be on Gambhir, who has played a pivotal role in their success. However, Gambhir's future with KKR remains uncertain as he has been linked with the head coach position of Team India.
