Tragic End For Former India Cricketer David Johnson At 52

Former India cricketer David Johnson has passed away at the age of 52 on Thursday, June 20.

David Johnson committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a private building in Bengaluru. The Kothanur Police Station responded to the scene following the tragic event. It is believed that the Karnataka Ranji cricketer was suffering from depression, which led to his decision.

David Johnson's Tragic Demise

Former India coach Anil Kumble shared the news and expressed his sadness. "Saddened to hear the passing of my cricketing colleague David Johnson. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Gone too soon Benny," Kumble wrote on his X profile.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah also tweeted, sharing his thoughts on the former India player's sad demise.

What the Police Said

A source close to the Kothanur Police Station informed MyKhel that the body of the former India player was found adjacent to his residence. The body has been sent to BR Ambedkar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

David Johnson played two Tests for India as a right-handed batter and right-arm medium pacer. He scored eight runs and took three wickets in those matches. His debut was against Australia in 1996, and his final match was against South Africa in Durban later that same year.
