Fake Account In Salman Butt's Name Accuses Shahid Afridi Of Propaganda

Pakistan cricket is facing internal turmoil following their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.

Despite numerous promises and changes in team structure, Pakistan was eliminated from the T20 World Cup during the group stages. They suffered defeats against India and co-hosts USA, an associate nation.

Fake Salman Butt Post Targets Afridi

The aftermath has seen Pakistani cricket experts voicing strong criticisms. Former players have targeted Babar Azam and others for their poor performances. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who returned from retirement for the tournament, have also faced significant accusations. Mohammad Hafeez even blamed the PCB for making deals with these players.

The self-criticism and blame game intensified after India's T20 World Cup victory. Rohit Sharma led India to their second T20 World Cup win, prompting Pakistan to scrutinise their own system further.

Amidst this chaos, a social media post from an account claiming to be former Pakistan captain Salman Butt went viral. The post accused Shahid Afridi of running a propaganda campaign with Shaheen Afridi, disrupting harmony within Pakistan cricket.

"Kaaash india main b koi Boom Boom hota jo Propaganda krta or india k Boom Boom Bumrah ko samjhata k tum kab tak kisi k under kheltay raho gay ab time aa gya hai khud Captain bano. Only Pakistani things (I Wish India had someone like Boom Boom who would have done propaganda and made Boom Boom Bumrah understand that he shouldn't play under anyone anymore, rather the time has come for him to become captain himself. Only Pakistani things)," read the post referring to Shahid Afridi as Boom Boom.

Fact Check: Fake Account

The post garnered various reactions, with some agreeing and others opposing the views expressed. The account had around 12k followers and was followed by former Pakistan captain Kamran Akmal, lending it an appearance of authenticity.

However, MyKhel confirmed that the account is fake and not actually Salman Butt's. The real X account of Salman Butt is different, proving that there is no truth behind the viral post.
