T20 World Cup 2024: England's Trio Vital For Title Defence
As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, England aims to redeem itself after a disappointing ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. The defending champions are set to defend their T20I title with a well-rounded squad.
England boasts a formidable T20I team, featuring deep batting, exceptional all-rounders, world-class spinners, and fast bowlers like Mark Wood and Jofra Archer. This combination makes them strong contenders for the upcoming tournament.

Three players stand out in Jos Buttler's 15-member squad: Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, and Adil Rashid. Their performances will be crucial for England's success in the ninth edition of the ICC event.
Phil Salt
Phil Salt has been in excellent form recently. In the fourth T20I against Pakistan on May 30, he scored 45 runs off 24 balls, including six fours and two sixes. The 27-year-old right-hand batter also played a significant role in KKR's IPL 2024 title win, scoring 435 runs in 12 matches at an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 182.
Salt has accumulated 687 runs in 23 T20Is at an average of 34.85 and a strike rate of 166.74, with two T20I hundreds to his name. He hopes to carry this form into the tournament in the USA and the West Indies.
Liam Livingstone
Liam Livingstone, a spin-bowling all-rounder, is expected to excel in West Indies conditions. The hard-hitting batter has scored 619 runs in 40 matches at an average of 24.76 and a strike rate of 149.15, including one T20I hundred.
Livingstone's off-spin bowling has also been effective, with 21 wickets at an average of 27.38. His performance will be closely watched as the tournament kicks off on June 1.
Adil Rashid
Adil Rashid, the top-ranked T20I bowler globally, took two wickets for 27 runs in the fourth T20I against Pakistan on May 30. He clean bowled Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan, earning the Man of the Match title.
The experienced leg-spinner has played in 106 T20I matches, taking 110 wickets at an average of 25 and a strike rate of 20.31. Rashid is also England's fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history, with 21 wickets in 22 matches at an economy rate of 6.99.
As England prepares for the T20 World Cup 2024, these key players' performances will be pivotal to their campaign's success.
