England Finds Form Ahead Of T20 World Cup Semi-Final With India

Liam Livingstone believes England are peaking at the right moment ahead of their T20 World Cup semi-final against India. The team, after a sluggish start, has found its rhythm. The defending champions nearly faced an early exit, but Australia's dramatic win over Scotland kept them in contention.

England secured second place in Group B and repeated this feat in Group 2 during the Super-8 stage. A decisive victory over the United States ensured their progression at the expense of West Indies. Now, England aims to reach their fourth T20 World Cup final and potentially secure a third title, surpassing the Windies' record.

All-rounder Livingstone emphasised that tournaments are about finishing strong rather than starting well. "In tournament cricket, sometimes it is better to sneak up and nick it at the end," said Livingstone. "Hopefully that is the way we will go." He noted that many players have contributed significantly in recent games, which bodes well for the team's future matches.

Livingstone sustained a torso injury while batting against Namibia in the group stage but has managed to play all subsequent matches. Despite not hitting top form yet, he remains optimistic about his performance improving. He has taken two wickets and scored 13 and 33 runs in his two innings so far.

Livingstone highlighted his desire to be actively involved in games. "As a kid I always wanted to be involved, that's the reason I started bowling a few years back," he said. "So batting at seven and maybe bowling one over, that's where the hard bit comes as you want to be involved."

He expressed satisfaction with his recent performances against South Africa and the USA. "Thankfully the last two games I struck the ball well against South Africa and bowled pretty well [against the USA], so I feel I'm in a good place," he added.

The team now looks forward to potentially playing two more crucial matches. Livingstone's confidence reflects a broader team sentiment as they prepare for these high-stakes encounters.

England's journey through this tournament underscores their resilience and ability to perform under pressure. With key players like Livingstone stepping up, they are poised for a strong finish.

The upcoming semi-final against India will be a significant test of their capabilities and determination to clinch another T20 World Cup title.
