Buttler Praises England's Grit In T20 World Cup; Eyes On Final Group Game
Jos Buttler praised England's performance in their crucial match against Oman, while acknowledging the team remains in a precarious position at the T20 World Cup. After their opening match against Scotland was rained off and a defeat by Australia, the reigning champions needed victories in their final two Group B games and an improved net run-rate to keep their title defence alive.
Buttler's side delivered a dominant performance against Oman, dismissing them for just 47 runs with 101 balls remaining, setting a new World Cup record. England then took only 19 balls to chase down the target. The team must now beat Namibia in their final group game on Saturday and hope Australia defeats Scotland the following day to secure a place in the Super 8s.

"It was a really good performance," Buttler said. "We have had some really good training sessions and spoke about how we need to stay true to ourselves and trust we have got really good players."
He added, "We spoke about needing to win two games of cricket and, if we had the chance to affect the net run-rate, that would be important. The tone was set really well by the bowlers, and they managed to pick up those early wickets, restrict them, and knock them off."
Buttler emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive approach. "We told [the batters] then to be ultra-positive. We spoke in the lead-up to this. We have to win games and if we get a chance, we have to take advantage with the net run-rate," he said.
He expressed confidence in his team, stating, "We have lots of confidence in our team, and we have another big game to come. We are still in the same position. We still have a must-win game on Saturday."
Upcoming Challenges
England's next challenge is against Namibia on Saturday. A victory is essential for their progression in the tournament. Additionally, they will be closely watching Australia's match against Scotland, as an Australian win is crucial for England's advancement.
The team's performance against Oman has boosted their net run-rate significantly, giving them a better chance of qualifying for the Super 8s if they can secure another win.
England's emphatic win over Oman has kept their T20 World Cup hopes alive. With one more must-win game ahead, Buttler's side remains focused on their goal of advancing further in the tournament.
