England captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum were present with Ahmed at Hirasar Rajkot Airport, where an emergency two-day visa was granted, allowing them to join the rest of the team at the hotel separately. Despite the hiccup, Ahmed participated in training sessions with his teammates at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday morning. Ahmed, who also has Pakistani heritage, was previously granted an Indian visa for England's 50-over World Cup campaign but did not travel at that time. The current situation is attributed to an oversight by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding electronic visas, which are not stamped in passports. This oversight came to light only upon the team's return to Rajkot.

Despite these challenges, Ahmed has made significant contributions to the England team in the series, taking eight wickets with an average of 36.37 and scoring 70 runs. His performance includes a notable 23 runs after being promoted to number three in the batting order during the second Test. With Jack Leach's absence due to a knee injury, England's spin department relies on Ahmed, Bashir, and Tom Hartley, alongside Joe Root's part-time off-breaks.

An England team spokesperson confirmed that local authorities at Rajkot Airport were cooperative, allowing Ahmed entry on a temporary visa while the correct visa is processed. The spokesperson assured that Ahmed would continue preparing with the squad for the upcoming third Test.
