SA20 2025: Durban Super Giants Welcome Kane Williamson And Chris Woakes

New Zealand's Kane Williamson and England's Chris Woakes have joined Durban's Super Giants for the SA20 2025, set to begin early next year.

Williamson, who was left out of New Zealand Cricket's central contract earlier this year to participate in various leagues globally, has secured his first contract with Durban's Super Giants for the upcoming season.

After signing with DSG, Williamson expressed his excitement in a statement released by the franchise: "Really excited to be a part of the SA20 this season with Durban's Super Giants. Looking forward to meeting Keshav, Lance, and the boys, and playing in front of a packed house at Kingsmead. Can't wait!"

Despite not being known for explosive batting, Williamson has an impressive T20I record. He has played 93 matches in this format, scoring 2,575 runs at an average of 33.44 and a strike rate of 123.08.

The stylish right-hander is also New Zealand's second-highest run-scorer across all formats, amassing 18,128 runs in 358 matches. In Test cricket, he has played 100 matches and scored 8,743 runs at an average of 54.98. In ODIs, he has made 165 appearances and accumulated 6,810 runs at an average of 48.64.

Woakes has been pivotal for England in limited-overs cricket. He was instrumental in England's 2019 World Cup victory and was part of their T20 World Cup-winning squad, though he didn't play any matches.

The experienced all-rounder has played in 33 T20Is, scoring 147 runs and taking 31 wickets. Overall in T20s, Woakes has participated in 162 matches, claiming 172 wickets and scoring 1,021 runs.

Strengthening Durban's Super Giants

The addition of these international stars will significantly bolster Durban's Super Giants as they aim to improve on their runner-up finish from last season. They will join top South African players like Heinrich Klaasen and Quinton de Kock.
