Dravid And Indian Team's Joyful Meeting With PM Modi After T20 World Cup Triumph

Rahul Dravid, the outgoing head coach of India, reminisced about the last time Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the team in Ahmedabad. He mentioned that it was a difficult period and expressed his happiness to meet the PM again during a joyous occasion in New Delhi.

The previous meeting with PM Modi occurred in the Narendra Modi Stadium dressing room after India's loss in the ODI World Cup final. The atmosphere was filled with gloom and heartbreak following their defeat.

Dravid, Team India Celebrate with PM Modi

On July 4, Team India visited the Prime Minister at his residence, celebrating their T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. This meeting contrasted sharply with their earlier encounter, showcasing pride and joy.

The earlier meeting took place on November 19 last year, after India’s ten dominating victories were overshadowed by their failure to win against Australia in Ahmedabad. The loss left the nation heartbroken.

During those tough moments, PM Modi visited the team to lift their spirits. He personally greeted each player, offering words of comfort and encouragement to keep their morale high.

Dravid recalled these moments and expressed gratitude towards PM Modi for meeting them after their ODI 2023 World Cup final match. He appreciated the opportunity to interact again on a happier occasion.

"I would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity to meet you and during our match in Ahmedabad, you had come there as well, I agree, the time was not that good, so we are very happy that we could meet you today on this happy occasion," Dravid said during an interaction with PM Modi at Prime Minister's residence in Delhi.

Dravid's Praise for Team Spirit

Dravid also mentioned that India skipper Rohit Sharma convinced him over a phone call to continue as head coach until the T20 World Cup. He praised the players' "fighting spirit" and "never-say-die attitude" as an inspiration for younger generations.

"I would just like to say that the fighting spirit that Rohit and all these boys have shown, the never-say-die attitude that they have shown, means a lot, the credit goes to the boys, they have worked very hard for this. It is a matter of great joy that these boys have inspired the younger generation..." Dravid added.

The contrast between these two meetings highlights Team India's resilience and determination. From heartbreak to triumph, their journey has been marked by unwavering support from leaders like PM Modi and dedicated efforts from players and coaches alike.
