DP World ILT20 Season 3: CEO David White Highlights Quality Improvement With Over 10,000 Runs
Following the conclusion of the DP World ILT20 Season 3, where the Dubai Capitals emerged victorious on February 9, the league has been bustling with positive reviews. CEO David White shared his enthusiasm about the tournament's success, highlighting the thrilling matches and top-notch cricket displayed throughout the season.
The final match, especially, was a spectacle that captured the essence of competitive cricket, as the Dubai Capitals triumphed over the Desert Vipers, reaching a challenging target of 190 runs with just a few deliveries to spare. This victory not only marked their championship win but also set the stage for the league's bright future.

David White encapsulated the season's achievements, stating, "I think what summarizes the success of season 3 is the excitement, world-class players, and some of the matches going down to the wire.
No doubt, this season has been a big step up in the quality of cricket, the scores have reflected that." His remarks underscore the heightened level of competition and the impressive performances that defined this season. The league's success is attributed not only to the thrilling matches but also to the exceptional talent that took center stage.
This season was remarkable for its record-breaking performances, including over 430 sixes and a total of 10,352 runs scored by players. These statistics underscore the high-energy and action-packed nature of the matches, further solidifying the league's status among fans and cricket enthusiasts.
White further highlighted, "More than 10,000 runs were scored this season, and we saw some standout individual performances too. The quality of cricket is also largely due to the quality of the pitches we had at our three tournament venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah."
The season also shone a spotlight on individual brilliance, with players like Shai Hope of Dubai Capitals, MI Emirates' Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Sam Curran of the MVP earning prestigious awards for their performances. Their achievements reflect the high-caliber talent that the league attracts and nurtures.
Furthermore, emerging talent from the UAE, such as Aayan Afzal Khan of Gulf Giants who set a new record for best bowling figures by a UAE player in the league, showcased the growing cricketing talent within the country.
White emphasized the growth of the teams themselves, noting, "The teams, after three seasons, are developing their own culture, personality and it is really coming through. What I am extremely pleased about is the competitiveness on the field, players are passionate and are really into it." This development of team identities and cultures enriches the league, fostering a deeper connection with fans and enhancing the competitive spirit among the squads.
The DP World ILT20 has played a significant role in developing cricket in the UAE, offering a platform for local players to shine. White elaborated on the league's contribution, mentioning how it serves as a critical component of the UAE's performance programme. He highlighted the improvement in the UAE national team's performance, including their qualification for the Asia Cup for the first time in eight years, as evidence of the league's positive impact.
Looking ahead, White expressed optimism about the league's future, emphasizing plans to increase the number of UAE and Associate Member Nations players in the squads. He also hinted at the possibility of expanding the league into the Greater Gulf region, which could introduce a wider audience to the league and further boost its popularity.
Regarding Indian players' participation, White stated, "Everyone knows the rules with BCCI and everyone respects it. If a retired Indian player is granted release from BCCI and if they are still competitive internationally then of course we would like for them to play in the league."
The DP World ILT20's successful third season has laid a strong foundation for its continued growth and influence in the world of cricket. With its blend of high-quality matches, individual brilliance, and the potential for further expansion, the future of the league looks bright, promising more thrilling cricket action for fans around the world.
