Dhruv Jurel Overcame A Life-Changing Bus Accident To Pursue His Cricket Dreams
Dhruv Jurel's journey from a young dreamer to a rising cricket star is nothing short of inspiring. His story is one of determination, sacrifice, and an unyielding passion for cricket. Despite numerous challenges, he pursued his dream relentlessly, embodying the idea that dreams can indeed become reality.
Raised by Nem Singh Jurel, a Kargil war veteran, Dhruv was expected to follow in his father's footsteps and serve the nation. However, his heart was set on cricket, a sport unfamiliar to his family. Initially, his father was hesitant about this unconventional path. Yet, Dhruv's dedication eventually won him over.

The glamour of cricket often overshadows the struggles players face. For Dhruv, these struggles began early. At five years old, he survived a severe accident when a bus ran over his leg. This incident required plastic surgery but only strengthened his resolve to pursue cricket.
During his teenage years, Dhruv secretly participated in school tournaments. He hid this from his father, who had different plans for him. A close call occurred when his father read about a cricketer named Dhruv Jurel in the newspaper and assumed it was someone else. "He was reading the newspaper and suddenly told me, 'There is a cricketer that goes by the same name as you, and he has scored these many runs.' I got scared and did not know how to tell him this cricketer was me," Dhruv recalled with a nervous chuckle (via Indian Express).
At 13, Dhruv made a bold decision to leave home alone for Noida to train at Phool Chand Academy. Without parental support or accommodation arrangements, he showed immense courage and determination. His coach Phool Chand remembered (via PTI), "I didn't see any parent accompanying him... then he said, 'Sir, I have come all alone from Agra...'"
Today, Dhruv is part of the Rajasthan Royals team and is making waves in Indian cricket. He has played for India A and continues to shine in the IPL. His journey reflects unwavering determination supported by parental sacrifices as he inches closer to wearing the Indian jersey.
