Delhi Premier League To Debut In 2024 With Men's And Women's T20 Matches

The Delhi Premier League (DPL), a thrilling T20 cricket tournament, is gearing up for its debut season featuring both men's and women's matches. Organised by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), the league will kick off in the latter half of August 2024, with all games set to take place at Shri Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The franchise auction for the DPL, held on 28th July in New Delhi, witnessed enthusiastic participation from major companies. This resulted in the sale of six men's teams for a total of INR 49.65 crore. Notably, the top four bidders in the men's franchise auction automatically acquired women's teams, promoting gender inclusivity within the league.

The inaugural season of DPL will feature 40 matches, including 33 men's games and 7 women's games. This structure ensures an exciting competition, offering fans a comprehensive experience of high-energy T20 cricket. The upcoming league promises to be an exhilarating event for fans while significantly boosting local cricket.

Under the leadership of Mr. Bimal Julka, a retired IAS officer, the DPL aims to set new standards in cricket leagues.
