Delhi Capitals Aim To Enhance Bowling Attack On Day 2 Of IPL Mega Auction 2025 In Jeddah

Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to enhance their bowling lineup on the second day of the IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This follows their efforts to bolster the top order's stability and experience during the first day of bidding.

KL Rahul, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, and Mitchell Starc, a renowned Australian pacer, were the standout acquisitions for Delhi Capitals on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The team is co-owned by JSW and GMR.

Rahul was bought for Rs 14 crore, while Starc was secured for Rs 11.75 crore. Additionally, Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk was retained using the Right to Match card for Rs 9 crore.

In the latter part of the day, English player Harry Brook joined DC for Rs 6.25 crore. Indian players T Natarajan and Karun Nair were also acquired for Rs 10.75 crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively.

The team further strengthened its roster by signing domestic players Sameer Rizvi for Rs 95 lakh and Ashutosh Sharma for Rs 3.80 crore. Experienced pacer Mohit Sharma was added to the squad for Rs 2.20 crore.

Parth Jindal, Co-owner of Delhi Capitals, expressed satisfaction with their purchases. "We were looking for stability in the top order, someone with experience who can build the innings," he said.

"And, I think KL Rahul, given his record in the IPL, he's someone who's consistently given more than 400 runs every season. I think with the Kotla wicket, it is going to suit his game. We're very excited to have him."

"We have a very young batting lineup. Both KL and Axar are going to lead them and are going to guide them. KL's batting and experience will be a vital cog in the wheel," he further explained.

Future Plans: Enhancing Bowling Depth

Jindal also discussed plans for strengthening their bowling unit on Day 2: "We just went for the best available talent. We're looking for a couple more bowlers tomorrow."

"I think the bowling attack will be very strong. Batting is also strong. Overall, it's going to be a very competitive squad," he added.

Head Coach Hemang Badani shared his thoughts on their strategy: "Pretty elated with the buys. We have enough clarity as to how we go about in the auction."

Potential Targets: Adding More Firepower

"We've kind of reaped the rewards of being well-strategised and well-planned," Badani reflected on their approach so far.

The team might pursue pacers like Mukesh Kumar who has been part of DC in previous seasons. They also aim to enhance spin options alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.
