Delhi Capitals Strategically Build Balanced Squad For IPL 2025 Title Challenge

Delhi Capitals, co-owned by JSW and GMR, strategically assembled a strong squad in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. On Day 2, they acquired several key players to bolster their team for the upcoming season.

The franchise secured former South African captain Faf du Plessis for ₹2 crore and Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar for ₹8 crore using the Right to Match (RTM) card. Additionally, Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera was added to the team for ₹75 lakh.

Delhi Capitals Build Strong Squad for IPL 2025

Domestic talents such as Darshan Nalkande and Vipraj Nigam were also picked up for ₹30 lakh and ₹50 lakh respectively. Uncapped players like South Africa's Donovan Ferreira and Indian all-rounders Ajay Mandal, Manvanth Kumar, and Tripurana Vijay were included to strengthen the roster further.

The foundation of Delhi Capitals' squad was laid on Day 1 with significant acquisitions. Key players like KL Rahul at ₹14 crore, Mitchell Starc at ₹11.75 crore, and Harry Brook at ₹6.25 crore were secured. Domestic players Sameer Rizvi for ₹95 lakh and Ashutosh Sharma for ₹3.80 crore also joined the ranks.

Kiran Kumar Grandhi, Chairman and Co-owner, expressed satisfaction with their strategy: "This year, the outcome has been really good. We were well-prepared, we did a lot of scouting, mock auctions, and we did our best. We went as per our plans, and budgets, and we are very happy with the way it went."

Parth Jindal, another Co-owner of Delhi Capitals, praised the team's meticulous planning: "The auction went completely to our plan. I would like to compliment the entire support staff, who worked tirelessly on devising the entire auction strategy. We have built a very balanced team, we are very happy."

Coaching Insights

Head Coach Hemang Badani shared his thoughts on their selections: "We've done a good job. We've got players that we wanted, and have a good Indian core. It was a complete auction for us, and we are really happy with what we have picked. In two to three months, it will be game time!"

With a blend of seasoned international stars and promising Indian talent, Delhi Capitals is optimistic about their prospects in IPL 2025. The management's efforts have resulted in a well-rounded squad poised to deliver strong performances on the field.
