Delhi Capitals Coach Hemang Badani Shares Vision For Leaving A Legacy Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction

The Delhi Capitals are preparing for the IPL 2025 player auction, aiming to build a formidable team. This event is set for November 24 and 25 at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The JSW-GMR co-owned franchise is keen on making strategic moves during this mega auction.

Hemang Badani, recently appointed as Head Coach of Delhi Capitals, shared his thoughts on his coaching approach and aspirations for the team. He emphasised his readiness to make impactful decisions that could benefit the team in future seasons.

"I've earned my stripes to be here and I really feel that there will be good decisions made and good things that could happen for DC in the years to come," Badani expressed.

Badani described himself as a coach who prefers working quietly behind the scenes, focusing on strategy. "You will see a lot more strategising, you will see a very silent coach, who works in the background. I prefer to let my work do the talking. I've been blessed with some success in the T20 cricket purely because I genuinely believe that I have the passion towards coaching, and I think I can make an impact," he added.

The coach's ultimate aim is to secure victories for Delhi Capitals. "My end goal has always been to win," he stated. His desire to leave a lasting legacy as a coach stems from his playing days when he felt he didn't achieve this.

Delhi Capitals have retained four key players: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel. These players form part of their core squad as they head into the auction with ₹73 crore remaining in their budget.

The team also holds two Right-To-Match cards, providing them with strategic flexibility during player selections at the auction.

"This primarily comes from my playing days where I didn't leave back a legacy. I want to leave a legacy as a coach. I will do my best to win the title for DC," he concluded.
