Delhi Capitals Coach Hemang Badani Expresses Elation Over KL Rahul And Mitchell Starc Signings In IPL 2025 Auction

Delhi Capitals made a significant impact during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction's first session by securing two major players. Australia's Mitchell Starc and India's KL Rahul were acquired for ₹11.75 crore and ₹14 crore, respectively, enhancing the team's strength as they prepare for a competitive season.

KL Rahul, purchased for ₹14 crore, is one of the IPL's most reliable batsmen and a consistent run-scorer. With 7,586 runs in 226 T20 matches, including 65 fifties and six centuries, Rahul's reliability is well-known. He previously won the IPL 2020 Orange Cap and is expected to provide stability to Delhi's batting order.

Mitchell Starc was bought for ₹11.75 crore, bringing his vast experience and recent IPL triumphs to Delhi. The left-arm fast bowler played a crucial role in Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL 2024 championship win and has an impressive record of 193 wickets in 142 T20 games. His speed and accuracy will significantly enhance the Capitals' bowling lineup.

Reflecting on these acquisitions, Delhi Capitals Head Coach Hemang Badani expressed his delight but remained realistic about future challenges. "I'm pretty elated with the buys. Both KL and Starc are world-class players. In fact, they're battling each other right now in India versus Australia, so it's pretty interesting," Badani said.

The coach acknowledged that their task isn't finished yet. "For me, at the moment, this is the best buy of the auction. But having said this, there's work to do," he added, emphasizing the need to build a balanced team.

Discussing their auction strategy, Badani highlighted their disciplined approach. "The energy has been spot-on. We've been patient, disciplined, and careful about our spends, sticking to the numbers we had in mind. There's been enough clarity in our approach, and so far, we've reaped the rewards of being well-strategized and well-planned," he noted.

The addition of Starc and Rahul signifies a strategic move by Delhi Capitals to strengthen both their bowling and batting departments. These acquisitions are expected to play pivotal roles in their quest for success in the upcoming season.
