DDCA Official Faces Allegations Of Ticket Black Marketing During IPL 2024 Match
A significant incident has unfolded involving a top Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official, potentially facing legal challenges after Delhi Police reportedly caught his assistants black-marketing match tickets.
According to CricBlogger, they were caught while blacking the tickets of the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans game in the IPL 2024. This situation highlights a broader issue with the sale of IPL tickets in Delhi, where top officials have been found selling high-end tickets for personal gain, and then purchasing lower-grade tickets for distribution.

The racket's depth was revealed when a Delhi university student was first detained by Delhi Police around the Ferzeshah Kotla Stadium before the Delhi-Gujarat match. The student disclosed the involvement of a DDCA part-time worker, leading to further arrests, including the assistants of a prominent DDCA member.
Despite their detention, persistent phone calls reportedly facilitated their release, though their phones were seized as part of an ongoing investigation aimed at identifying and penalizing the main perpetrators.
It emerged that match passes, nominally priced at Rs 1,800, were sold at much higher rates. While black-marketing tickets is a bailable offence, it's argued that those responsible should not evade punishment. This incident not only tarnishes the reputation of the DDCA but could also become a pivotal issue in forthcoming elections.
Calls for Investigation
The involvement of a DDCA official has prompted calls for a thorough investigation by the Delhi Police to ensure justice is served. This is particularly significant as the DDCA plans to implement a new stadium plan, underscoring the need for a fair and transparent distribution of tickets to genuine fans.
