Delhi Capitals' Parth Jindal Opposes IPL Impact Player Rule, Backs Mega Auction
Parth Jindal, the owner of Delhi Capitals, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Impact Player Rule in the IPL and clarified his position on the mega auction.
The Impact Player rule, which allows teams to substitute a player from their four named substitutes at any point during a match, has faced significant criticism. Many players and coaches have voiced their concerns over this rule.

Jindal's primary issue with the Impact Player Rule is its effect on all-rounders. He believes that reducing their role could harm their development and overall contribution to cricket. "Impact Player rule is detrimental to the growth of the allrounders," he said.
During an IPL owners meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, franchise owners discussed player retention policies and updates for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Parth Jindal reiterated his opposition to the Impact Player Rule, arguing that it hinders the development of all-rounders, which is crucial for Indian cricket's growth.
The DC owner also confirmed his support for the mega auction. Initially sceptical about this process that reshuffles team squads, Jindal now supports it. "I'm surprised that there was a debate over continuation of the big auction in the first place. I'm personally in favour of it," he stated.
The meeting also covered various policies related to player retention for IPL 2025. While some franchises support increasing player retentions, others are dissatisfied with this idea. A notable disagreement occurred between KKR owner Shahrukh Khan and Punjab Kings owner Ness Wadia over retention numbers ahead of the mega auction.
Jindal believes that while the Impact Player Rule offers opportunities for young players, it negatively impacts Indian cricket by diminishing the importance of all-rounders.

At this meeting, franchise owners gathered to discuss player retention policies and updates for IPL 2025. The discussions highlighted differing opinions among team owners regarding player retentions and other policies.
This meeting saw a verbal spat between KKR owner Shahrukh Khan and Punjab Kings owner Ness Wadia over retention numbers ahead of the mega auction.
Jindal's main concern with this rule is its impact on all-rounders' growth and contribution to cricket. He firmly believes that reducing their role could be detrimental to their development.
The DC owner's stance on these issues reflects broader debates within IPL management about how best to balance team dynamics and player development.
