David Warner Open To Champions Trophy 2025 Comeback After Announcing Retirement
David Warner confirmed his international retirement on Monday, July 8. However, the dynamic opener hinted at a potential return for Australia in next year's ICC Champions Trophy.
Warner's retirement announcement came in stages over the past year. He first retired from Test cricket in December 2023 after Australia's three-match series against Pakistan. Shortly after, he also announced his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs).

The 37-year-old concluded his international career after Australia was eliminated from the T20 World Cup during the Super 8 stage last month. Despite this, Warner will continue playing franchise cricket and has made himself available for the Champions Trophy in 2025.
"I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for [Australia] in the Champions Trophy if selected," Warner posted on Instagram.
Even though Warner has hinted at a possible return to international cricket if selected by Australia for next year's ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the left-handed opener officially confirmed his international retirement via social media.
Warner's Reflections on His Career
"Chapter closed!! It's been an unbelievable experience to play at the highest level for such a long period. Australia was my team. The majority of my career was at the international level. It's been an honour to be able to do this," Warner wrote in his Instagram post.
"100+ games in all formats is my highlight. I want to say thanks to everyone out there who has made this possible. My wife and my girls, who sacrificed so much, thank you for all your support.
