David Warner Sets New T20 Fifties Record, Overtakes Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, And Babar Azam

David Warner of Australia broke Chris Gayle's record for most fifties in T20 cricket during his side's T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Oman in Barbados on Thursday, June 6.

The 37-year-old opener scored a match-winning 56 runs off 51 balls, surpassing Chris Gayle's tally of 110 T20 fifties. Warner brought up his 111th T20 fifty and 27th T20I fifty with a six over long-on.

Warner Tops T20 Fifties Record

Australia were three down for 50 when Warner joined forces with Marcus Stoinis to record the second-highest partnership for the fourth wicket in T20I cricket for Australia. The duo scored 102 runs together off 64 balls.

David Warner also features in Australia's highest ever partnership for the fourth wicket in T20I cricket. In 2016, Warner and Glenn Maxwell, who was dismissed for a duck against Oman, partnered for 161 runs in Johannesburg.
