Chennai Super Kings Eye Five Promising Tamil Nadu Players For IPL 2025 Auction

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are gearing up for the IPL 2025 mega auction with significant signings already secured. MS Dhoni, the former India captain, has been signed as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. Additionally, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja are among their most expensive acquisitions at Rs 18 crore each. Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana have been retained for Rs 12 crore and Rs 13 crore respectively.

The upcoming auction is crucial for CSK as they aim to build a formidable squad for the next IPL cycle. After a disappointing performance in IPL 2024, where they failed to reach the playoffs, CSK hopes to turn things around under Ruturaj Gaikwad's leadership. Known for their strategic buys, the five-time IPL champions will be looking at both major signings and promising domestic players.

CSK Aims for Five Tamil Nadu Players in Auction

CSK has a rich history of including Tamil Nadu players in their team. Over the years, many Tamil Nadu cricket legends like Murali Vijay, Subramaniam Badrinath, Lakshmipathy Balaji, and Ravichandran Ashwin have worn the yellow jersey. In the 2025 auction, CSK is likely to focus on bringing more local talent into their squad.

Washington Sundar is one such player who could join CSK. The Chennai-born all-rounder excels in T20 cricket with his bowling and batting skills. Released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sundar is expected to attract interest from multiple teams during the auction.

With Matheesha Pathirana already part of the squad, CSK's pace department looks strong. However, Thangarasu Natarajan remains a potential target due to his impressive death bowling skills. The left-arm pacer from Salem had an underwhelming season with SRH but could revive his career at CSK given his Tamil Nadu roots.

Pradosh Paul is another promising talent on CSK's radar. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has made waves in domestic cricket, particularly in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). His excellent hitting ability makes him a potential backup option for MS Dhoni.

Spin Options Considered

Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore is another improved cricketer who might catch CSK's attention. The left-arm spinner was part of Gujarat Titans and played a key role in India's Asian Games victory. His accurate and economical spells in middle overs could be valuable for CSK.

Ravichandran Ashwin's return to CSK could be on the cards as well. Having started his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings in 2008, Ashwin became a star with them before moving on to other franchises. Now at 38 years old, he might return home after seven seasons away.

The experience and skill that Ashwin brings would be highly valued by CSK if they manage to secure him again during this auction.
